Fantasy or Non-Fiction

*SPOILER ALERT*

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss was a fantasy book about a guy who cut down a lot of trees and out of one of them an animal kind-of thing pops out of the trunk—The Lorax. The Lorax tries to warn the man about how bad it would be to cut down the trees. The man continues to cut down every last tree. The world gets darker and the air gets polluted the animals are forced to live somewhere else. In the end of the book the guy that cut down all the trees gave a child the last tree seed for him to plant it.

This book is fiction except its message is very real. The message may not necessarily be for the main audience, the kids, but the adults reading it will see it. Instead of having regular people and regular trees Dr. Seuss knew that kids might not care about what would happen if in the city a regular tree was cut down because that's what happens all the time. They care when the fluffy colorful trees are cut down in the beautiful meadow that is home to many very cute animals. Instead of having an adult plant the last tree that could save the planet and make it happy again they used a kid. They did this to show kids that they could make a difference.

Kids book are not books that you necessarily relate with because usually they're fantasy characters. but the kids respect the fantasy characters they want to be like them they want to be like the superstars in the stories. To them everything that goes on in these fictional worlds are just more real worlds with better characters. Kids respect fiction and although they don't think of these characters as fake organisms they think of them as heroes, heroes they can learn from.
